Michele has dual nursing and midwifery qualifications and has completed post graduate studies; including a Bachelor of Nursing, Masters in Health Service Management, Case Mix and Clinical Pathways for the Nurse Professional and a Certificate IV Training Assessment.
48 years working in rural and remote health Michele has held both clinical and management roles as a clinical nurse and midwife, Nursing Unit Manager Specialist Clinics Broken Hill Health Service, Area Manager Clinical Quality Improvement Far West Area Health Service, Area Director Nursing and Clinical Services Far West Area Health Service, Area Director Nursing and Midwifery Greater Western Area Health Service, and the Director of the Centre of Rural and Remote Education Greater Western Area Health Service.
Following a restructure in NSW Health; Michele was recruited to the role of Far West Medicare Local (FWML) Manager Quality and Clinical Governance. Then due to a FWML restructure became the FWML Manager Clinical Services holding this position until the transition into the WNSW Primary Health Network and her current position as the Portfolio Lead, Chronic Disease, Aged Care and Palliative Care.
Michele has a sound knowledge of the health industry including an understanding of the issues that impact the health and well-being of people living in rural and remote communities. Michele has experience in the implementation of quality frameworks, clinical improvement practice initiatives, clinical audit, clinical risk management, policy and procedure development, reviewing service delivery against accreditation standards and she has a commitment to the integration of quality and research into the work practices of the organisation.
