Professional Bio
Colleen Kerr has worked as a Speech Pathologist for more than thirty years with extensive experience in adult communication and swallowing disorders in acute, rehabilitation and community settings. Her interests include Traumatic Brain Injury, Stroke, Neurodegenerative Disease and Voice Disorders.  

Colleen has been director of Optimal Speech Pathology for twenty years, and has worked with a range of clinical interventions for Parkinson’s Disease over this time.  In 2018 Colleen became an accredited provider of SPEAK OUT!® & The LOUD Crowd therapies and Optimal Speech Pathology became the first providers of this treatment in NSW.  In 2019 Colleen was amongst the first international grant recipients to travel to Parkinson Voice Project in Texas, USA.  Completion of additional clinician training allowed rapid expansion of the SPEAK OUT!® & The LOUD Crowd program across Sydney metropolitan areas, followed quickly by the launch of a collaborative program with public health in the mid north coast of NSW.   

Colleen volunteers regularly to assist Parkinson’s NSW with their newly-diagnosed forums.  She represents NSW on Speech Pathology Australia professional development bodies, and is also sought regularly for medicolegal expert opinion.  In 2019 Colleen was one of four speech pathologists nominated for Australian Speech Pathologist of the Year.
