Saba is the Chief Smiling Officer of The Art Cart, an international creativity and movement program for people living with Parkinson’s disease. Saba has significantly contributed to the movement disorder community making a lasting impact and finding a way to help patients with Parkinson’s alleviate their symptoms through art and exercise. In a short amount of time, Saba has developed her “Smile Through Art” program into an international offering that provides programming to hundreds of people living with Parkinson’s, instills hope back into their lives, and teaches those with PD to learn to live better with their symptoms instead of feeling burdened by them. Saba also successfully launched her Lets Combat Micrographia Workshop series in 2014, Virtual Let’s Combat Micrographia series in 2019, and since has published four interactive workbooks that are sold internationally with the goal of helping people with PD with small handwriting or Micrographia. Saba’s Let’s Combat Micrographia program was awarded a Community Engagement Grant by the United States National Institute of Health’s National Network of Libraries of Medicine.
Saba Shahid has a bachelor’s in biology and a master’s in biomedical science from Quinnipiac University. She currently serves on the board of DopaFit Parkinson’s Movement Center and The American Parkinsons Disease Association Massachusetts chapter. She has created strategic partnerships with hospitals and pharmaceutical companies nationally that all join Saba in her mission to spread smiles through creativity and movement. Saba was recently inducted into BussinessWest’s 40 Under 40 Class of 2020.
Saba loves spending time outdoors with her husband, Chad, and son Aayan. Saba is also studying to become a private pilot.
